A new lease on life for the D&H2193 viewsAfter being wed and then divorced by Guilford Transportation Inustries, D&H was operated successfully by NYS&W before being purchased by Canadian rail giant CP Rail. Six axle SD40s and SD40-2s became the norm on rails that had hosted second generation U-Boats, Geeps, and Alcos a decade earlier. Here, leased PLM SD40 #3004 leads leased GATX SD40 #2002 and a CP Rail SD40-2 under the highway overpass at Canaseraga NY, as BUEB makes its way down the 10 MPH jointed rail of track #2 between Portage and Hornell.

Hughson Sunday Nights766 viewsThe peacefulness of Hughson, California is shattered for less than 40 second while a northbound Amtrak California San Joaquin train 718. CDTX 2051, whose earned the nickname 'Sluggo', on account of its slow loading times, is pulling this trainset at a brisk 79mph rushing northward to Oakland at the other end of this corridor.
Present here are two ghosts from the past. Two old Santa Fe Searchlight signals guard this train and grants it safe passage from one signal block to another. These signals are becoming few and far in between as the BNSF Railway is replacing them with modern 'Tri-Lights'.

Mixed Bag2131 viewsAn Eastbound, carrying coal loads that originated on the P&LE, winds its way through the scenic Canisteo River valley behind a mixed consist of locomotives in five different paint schemes. Leading the pack is ex-RDG GP39-2 #7410 in D&H patched Reading green, followed by a leased BAR GP38-2, a leased ex-Chessie GP40-2, another ex-RDG GP39-2 in a modified blue D&H scheme, and an ex-BN SD45 now owned by designated operator NYS&W. The train is bound for a generating plant in Bow NH.

CP Rail SD40-2 #5678 Adrian NY2048 viewsThe skies have brightened considerably as an Eastbound Buffalo to Binghamton freight rounds Rattlesnake Curve in Adrian NY. D&H HAN-1 Canaseraga NY2377 viewsA trio of even-numbered B40-8s, led by NYS&W #4002, passes beneath the highway overpass in the small town of Canaseraga NY. Westbound HAN-1 was a joint CSX, B&P, D&H and NYS&W venture, and the B40-7 fleet had been financed by major player CSX.
