History Fading78 viewsThe DPUs of this BNSF Railway manifest-train slam by as it makes its way south through Cortez California on the Stockton Subdivision. The Warbonnet is one of few that lasts today in its Super Chief-inspired paint scheme. Behind it is a unit wearing 'Heritage II' paint scheme which is hybrid of Santa Fe's Warbonnet and Great Northern's Empire Builder schemes. Both locomotives are General Electric C44-9W's which is the power of choice on BNSF's high-speed trainsPNWTransitFreak

ULAURBE passes the SCMRBE35 viewsULAURBE passes the SCMRBE at North Bow, both on their way to Roberts Bank coal port. The SCM lost its DPU's and had to back into Bow siding and wait for a 3 unit set of 2nd generation power to help shove it north over the 1% grades out of Bellingham.BCR4601

UPRR 2-10-2 #5500119 viewsEngineer for Union Pacific, Archie A. Searle in the cab of U.P. 5500
Union Pacific 5500 is a 2-10-2 - UP 5500 was part of a final group of Class TTT-6 15 2-10-2s built by Baldwin and delivered to the LA-SL(Los Angelas-Salt Lake railroad) and given road numbers 5500 through 5514 in 1923.
Between 1917 and 1924, the Union Pacific Railroad purchased 144 2-10-2 "Santa Fe" types, divided into classes TTT-1 through TTT-7. The UPRR did not call them "Santa Fe" types. They instead gave them the "TTT" class name(Two-Ten-Two). American Locomotive Company (ALCO) built 18, Baldwin Locomotive Works built 89 and Lima Locomotive Works built 37. Despite the divided classes, all of the UP 2-10-2s had the same cylinder dimensions, driving wheel diameter and boiler pressure. After 26 years in service, the UP 5500 was 1 of 4 2-10-2's retired in 1949.

D&H GP39-2 #385 William St Buffalo NY84 viewsLed by NYSW B40-8 #4024 and GATX GP40 #3705, renumbered D&H GP39-2 #385, seen approaching William St, still wears Guilford paint, though the large 'G' on the long hood has been blacked out. Following CP Rail's subsequent purchase of the D&H, 4-axle motive power would become increasingly rare on the Southern Tier Line.
