NS Power At Longs Peak1615 viewsThis NS unit, (9958 D9-40CW), was the lead power on a BNSF Tacoma, WA to Denver, CO intermodal, (Q-TACDEN), that was stopped on the main, after meeting an empty coal drag at Longs Peak, CO, on a cold dreary morning.

N&W GP38-2 #4160 at Buffalo Junction Yard1576 viewsA GP38-2 lacking a high hood was a bit of a rarity on the N&W. #4160 was caught at rest within the cramped confines of Buffalo Junction Yard, near Elk St.

UPRR 2-10-2 #55001556 viewsEngineer for Union Pacific, Archie A. Searle in the cab of U.P. 5500
Union Pacific 5500 is a 2-10-2 - UP 5500 was part of a final group of Class TTT-6 15 2-10-2s built by Baldwin and delivered to the LA-SL(Los Angelas-Salt Lake railroad) and given road numbers 5500 through 5514 in 1923.
Between 1917 and 1924, the Union Pacific Railroad purchased 144 2-10-2 "Santa Fe" types, divided into classes TTT-1 through TTT-7. The UPRR did not call them "Santa Fe" types. They instead gave them the "TTT" class name(Two-Ten-Two). American Locomotive Company (ALCO) built 18, Baldwin Locomotive Works built 89 and Lima Locomotive Works built 37. Despite the divided classes, all of the UP 2-10-2s had the same cylinder dimensions, driving wheel diameter and boiler pressure. After 26 years in service, the UP 5500 was 1 of 4 2-10-2's retired in 1949.

The Odd Couple1519 viewsCN units 4798 and 4703 left town leaving CN 4782 all alone. But not to worry, it seems CN 2257 was lying around, so the 4782 needn't be alone no more. On August 6 2008, CN 520 'Diverges to clear' at Riverview, with one of the most bizarre consists ever to grace the train, except for the Dash-9/GMD1 setup. Why the GEVO isn't up front, is beyond mezartok-35
